2012:
Thursday 2nd February at 7pm at GCRM, 21 Fifty Pitches Way, Cardonald Business Park, Glasgow.
We are delighted to have Marco Gaudoin, from GCRM doing a talk on PGS.
Dr. Marco Gaudoin, MBChB, MD FRCOG – Medical Director, GCRM
Marco graduated from Edinburgh in 1987 and trained there initially but undertook his higher specialist training in Glasgow. He has been involved in the fields of reproductive medicine and infertility since 1995 and set up an assisted reproduction programme in conjunction with the South Glasgow NHS Trust in 1999. He took up his first consultant post in England, but returned to South Glasgow in 2002 to take up his Consultant post in Obstetrics & Gynaecology (Southern General Hospital, Victoria Infirmary and Ross Hall Hospital).
His MD thesis was on single fetal cell prenatal diagnosis. He has published widely in all areas of reproductive medicine and infertility and continues to pursue these research interests.
Marco has worked fulltime at GCRM since March 2010, which has allowed him to take forward clinical developments to the benefit of all patients.
Pre-implantation genetic screening (PGS) analyses the genetic constitution of an embryo to determine whether it is normal or abnormal. It involves removing the polar body or cells from the embryo and subjecting it to DNA analysis (array CGH) to examine the chromosome make-up (complement) of the cell. This in turn reflects the chromosome complement of the embryo and by excluding abnormal embryos, it increases the chances of a successful pregnancy. It also increases the chances of having no embryo transfer in that cycle.

Thursday 3rd February at Nuffield House, Glasgow at 7pm. We are delighted to have Liz Horton, Registered Hypnotherapist along to do a talk. I have included a summary from Liz of what her treatment entails. Look forward to seeing you all on 3rd February.
“My name is Liz Horton and I am a Registered Hypnotherapist. I also use other techniques in the course of my work such as NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Motivational Coaching. Hypnotherapy used in a clinical setting has nothing in common with Stage Hypnosis, no hypnotherapist can make anyone do anything against their will (neither can the stage performers they just choose their “performers” well). The benefits of Hypnotherapy are wide ranging and can be applied to many diverse conditions and issues from depression and anxiety to nail biting, weight control, smoking cessation etc. In fact there are very few issues that Hypnotherapy is unable to help in some way. I have used Hypnosis with clients undergoing IVF treatment which has proven to be a very positive experience for them. It is about the use of Hypnotherapy in this field that I will be talking at the CRADLE meeting on the 3rd February.”
